Greater Victoria Food Hubs Roundtable

Boma Brown, a founding member of SNIWWOC will be speaking at this event on Tuesday, June 6 in City Hall!

Facebook event

Join us for the 2nd annual CRFAIR Food Hubs Roundtable! This event is an opportunity for organizations and businesses that work towards food security to share resources, celebrate success stories, and create strategies for food systems change.

At last year's roundtable 40 organizations gathered to begin a conversation about how to increase food access and food literacy at the neighbourhood level. This year, we want to build on the excitement about neighbourhood food hubs and strengthen relationships in order to foster food security in the Capital Region. We will set the scene by presenting how we have collectively grown over the last year and identify areas for potential growth.

Our panel of local food champions will share succeses and challenges of the projects they have been working on over the past year. We are honoured to welcome the following panelists:
- Eden Murray (CRFAIR Youth Food Action Team)
- Boma Brown ( Support Network for Indigenous Women and Women of Colour; VIPIRG)
- Brenda Bolton (Food Share Network)
- Stephanie Enevoldsen (UVic Campus Community Garden; -
Springridge Commons; Vic West Community Garden)
- Courtney Stiker (Food Skills Connection)
- Others TBA!

We will then move into roundtable discussions, where topics of discussion will include but are not limited to:
- Metrics for measuring food access and food literacy
- Volunteer capacity
- Advocacy and lobbying
- Food sourcing

Please email us other topics of interest that you may have so we can include them in the roundtable discussions.

Framing our discussion are CRFAIR's Good Food 2025 goals:

- Reduce food insecurity by 25% (from 14% to 10%)
- Increase food literacy from 23% to 46%
- Increase local food prodiction from less than 10% of total food consumption to 25%

What to bring?
Please bring resources to share! We will be hosting a resource table for everyone to enjoy for the duration of the event.
