We’re taking it online! We will continue to gather and build community together!

Previously these yoga sessions were being hosted twice a month at the Fernwood Yoga Den however, to keep our community safe during the COVID-19 pandemic we have had to cancel the in-person sessions.

This is an opportunity for Black women, Indigenous women, women of colour, two-spirit, and racialized non-binary individuals to come for a gentle restorative yoga practice and community gathering in a space where you can show up as you are.

There are a few changes from our previous sessions:

Moving forward we will transition from face to face sessions to online sessions through Zoom conference calling.

This will be a 45 minute guided yoga and meditation practice led by Ande Denise followed by a sharing circle where we will each have the opportunity to introduce ourselves and share what we wish. The sharing circle is informal and a means to build community. These both will take place online through zoom video conferencing. This is an opportunity for us to be together in community, fully accepted as we are!

We will have the remaining 4 sessions online through Zoom. These dates will be announced through SNIWWOC Facebook page and registration will open on Eventbrite the day after each session. Our next session is Thursday April 2nd 5:30PM Start time on Zoom

***Each session will be about 1.5 to 2 hours

These are free events however you will still need to register through Eventbrite. Once registered you have secured a spot. Keep an eye out in your email, as we will send a link to all attendees the night before with the URL link to join the ONLINE Zoom conference call. Make sure to check your spam or junk folder as sometimes it forwards there :)

ZOOM Conference calling information:

Zoom Meetings is a way to connect and come together face to face through video and audio from your mobile devices or personal desktop.

***You do not need to have a Zoom account to attend a Zoom meeting or interview. You will be prompted to download the software, once you have clicked on the link that you have been provided. You may also wish to create an account, but that is not required to participate in a Zoom meeting ***

Ande Denise is a woman and uses she/her pronouns. She is Metis and a descendant of many ancestral lands including throughout Western Europe and the plains of Turtle Island. Ande is a trauma informed yoga teacher who teaches a slow and welcoming class that is suitable for all levels of practitioner. A journey through mental illness led her to practice yoga and a growing belief in embodiment practices led her to teach. Ande continues to study the nervous system, trauma and healing. Her commitment to social justice and community healing inform her teaching and allow her to hold space in a deeply caring, conscious and non-judgmental way. In class she will encourage you to be present to what shows up for you in your mind and body, to listen to what your body feels, and to let your mind and body receive your own inner medicine that comes when you allow this listening and unfolding.

If after registering, you no longer can attend please refund your ticket on Eventbrite or send us an email at program2@sniwwoc.ca. We can provide your ticket to someone else on the wait list!

Thank you to the Fernwood NRG and the Department of Women & Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) for supporting this event. We acknowledge that this event is hosted from the traditional territory of the Lekwungen people, currently and specifically the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations.
