🤎SNIWWOC is honoured to partner with the families of Murder and Missing Indigenous and Black relatives. We are congregating on Vancouver Island for a memorial highway walk and event, to be held on the BC Legislature lawn. Stand with us against police brutality in Canada. Join with us to bring an end to the epidemic of Missing and Murdered Women, Children, Relatives and Two Spirit BIPOC community. 🤎

👣 The highway walk will begin in Tofino and end in Nanaimo.

👣 Each leg of the journey will take place over a period of three days (feel free to join for as much of the journey as you are able)

📍 The Legislative Event will be June 4th at 1PM in Victoria, BC

Our goal is to increase awareness around the ongoing systemic racism present within Canada’s corrupt colonial systems. We demand:

👉🏽 protection for BIPOC individuals

👉🏽 reform within law enforcement

👉🏽 accountability for the prevalent violence within these institutions that harm our people

We will be walking to remember multiple relatives and families that have children and loved ones missing from their homes due to this on going brutality.

🤎Our children matter.

🤎Our women matter.

🤎Our people matter.

We will meet June 4th on the Legislative lawn, Victoria BC, unceeded Lekwungen Coast Salish Territory - to honour and remember these children and their families.

June 4th is a significant date, as our Co-Organizer, Martha Martin, lost her beautiful daughter, Chantel Moore, during a police wellness check on this date two years ago. A few months later, her son was also killed while in police custody.

Martha has worked tirelessly to bring awareness around the on going sanctioned killings of our relatives and our children. We thank Martha for her endless support and work.

We walk and gather in their honour, and in the honour of the many other families with missing or murdered relatives and children across Canada.

Please join us, for any leg of the highway walk and for our event at the legislature building.

Bring your signs, your drums, your medicine, and most importantly, your support.

Let us raise each other up.

Let us honour our children and remember their names.
