FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SNIWWOC announces “The Healing Power of the Arts - Second edition'' and marks Human Rights day, Friday December 10th, with a holiday social like no other. You’re invited!
Victoria, B.C., Canada. Tuesday, December 7th, 2021: On Friday, December 10th, at the elegant Bateman Foundation, we’re celebrating the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). A Night for Human Rights is not just another “holiday party”; we will be incorporating spoken word, dance, expressive arts and creative writing to connect with the personal meaning of human rights and each other.
Inspired by the 27th article of the Declaration of Human Rights which was adopted on December 10th, 1948 by the United Nations, that “Everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits.” We are gathering to raise awareness of how the arts can be used to benefit mental health issues and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health, because we believe that access to mental healthcare is a human right.
The Support Network for Indigenous Women and Women of Color, Belfry Theatre, Raino Dance and The Bateman Foundation has teamed up to bring you The Healing Power of the Arts: Second Edition which seeks to share community resources to enhance mental health through creative and arts engagement and to reflect about the linkages of mental health and the arts.
Refreshments and drinks will be provided, generously sponsored by Party Brazil Events, Fol Epi, Bear and Joey and the Mustard Seed Church. The event is kid-friendly, so bring the whole family! COVID protocols will be in place and we will request vaccine passports upon entry. Limited space is available, get your tickets today! Register here.
