Consulting & Training
Through consultation and training, SNIWWOC supports organizations, schools, and communities in developing affirming spaces for all people, including gender-expansive, and queer racialized people.
Our work includes anti-racism training and audits, gender equity training, gender bias workshops, and supporting organizations as they work towards inclusion and reconciliation.
Our consultancy service is led by our Executive Director, Boma Brown, along with Seminar Facilitator Joni Oldhoff. We offer a 30 minute free consultation, seminars, workshops, tool-kits and offer retainer services. Our society thrives when we all thrive, our consulting services provide you with the knowledge and tools to develop a thriving culture of anti-racism.
Testimonials
“[Their] workshop focussing on inclusive early-learning environments for Black, Indigenous and Families of Colour is critical for those working in the field of Early Childhood Education, and for those invested in ensuring authentic inclusivity is permeating throughout their culture of care for children and families. Our team of educators at Nurture Early Childhood Education Centre felt fortunate to have participated in SNIWWOC’s workshop, where we were afforded space and time to dismantle the many narratives and discourses that are embedded in early-learning practices. We valued the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and reflective practice.”
“In November 2020 our team had the privilege of participating in a training and consultation session led by a team from Support Network for Indigenous Women and Women of Colour. We were specifically seeking input about the intersections of race and gender for clients accessing specialized apparel products, with the aim of making our services more equitable and inclusive for racialized people. We were so impressed by the level of preparation, research and thought that went into this consultation session. SNIWWOC’s team took care to include perspectives from people of Black, Asian, and Indigenous Two-Spirit identities, and the material provided was shared with compassion and clarity. We particularly appreciated the willingness of SNIWWOC’s team to meet our team members ‘where we were at’ in terms of baseline knowledge and education.”
“Every step of working with SNIWWOC has been smooth and clear. They have excellent communication skills, whether that be in discussing the terms of our engagement or connecting in the moment with our members. There is a clarity about their way of working that I appreciate so much. Whether it be the pre-or-post training survey, their follow up resources, or the thoughtfulness that comes forth as we discuss the best learning flow that meets all needs, every step of working with SNIWWOC has felt valuable. We hope they will continue to work with us for many years to come.”
“The Support Network for Indigenous Women and Women of Colour (SNIWWOC) provided equity, diversity and inclusion training to the BC Green Party in 2021. The training was conducted online (using Zoom) to over 40 of our team members throughout the province. Our team found the training to be helpful in understanding unconscious bias and the impact of systemic racism from individuals directly impacted by it. SNIWWOC's training also helped us to define our ED&I goals and the work we need to accomplish.”
