A Conversation about Addictions with Certified Indigenous Addictions Specialist, Donna Shannon, from Prairie Sky Recovery Centre.
About this Event
National Addictions Awareness Week is November 22 - 28, 2020.
Join the conversation with Certified Indigenous Addictions Specialist, Donna Shannon from Prairie Sky Recovery Centre on Friday, November 27th at 2 PM EST (Ontario Time) as we gather to talk about:
-The Colonizer Agenda
-The Western vs. Indigenous Approach to Overcoming Addiction
-Understanding Addiction & Trauma
-Breaking the Stigma and more
We want to increase understanding of the devastating stigma associated with substance use and addiction, and its impact on the well-being of people touched by this health issue.
We must change the way we think about addiction. Addiction(s) touches the lives of many people, regardless of race, class and status. However, marginalized peoples have less access to safe and equal health care services.
Let's create a safe space to talk about addiction and heal!
SNIWWOC's mission is to support black, Indigenous women, women of colour, youth and children take greater control of their lives, providing culturally appropriate services in different languages. All of our programming is developed and delivered by women.
