Women Supporting Women in Light of Domestic Violence Awareness Month: A 4 week workshop every Wednesday for the month of November.
About this Event
In light of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Canada, the Native Women's Resource Centre Toronto and the Support Network for Indigenous Women and Women of Colour have teamed up to deliver a 4 Week Virtual Workshop for BIPOC Womxn seeking help, inspiration, motivation, resources, support or just something to look forward during the coming winter months.
What’s amazing about these virtual workshops is that we can reach Womxn from any part of Canada or the world!
We are aware of the implications that COVID 19 has on women who may be stuck in toxic relationships and experiencing Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). It is a pandemic within a pandemic. With limited household movement, the number of calls to the crisis hotline dropped by 50%. Experts in the field knew that rates of IPV had not decreased, but rather that victims were unable to safely connect with services.
1 in 4 women and 1 in 10 men experience IPV, and violence can take various forms: it can be physical, emotional, sexual, or psychological.
This coming November, we will host our workshop every Wednesday at 12 PM EST through Zoom. Each workshop will be 1 hour long with flexibility to go over or under.
Key Dates: November 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th.
For those who may not have access to a computer, please email us and we can figure out an alternative solution.
The Workshop Will Cover:
• Grandmother Teachings
• Sharing Circles
• Building Self-Esteem
• Identifying Violence & When to Ask for Help
• Healthy Relationships
We will provide incentives to those who attend every workshop as well, host some fun giveaways from Canadian and Indigenous owned brands like Cheekbone Beauty!
