SNIWWOC is excited to announce the launch of our Matriarchal Leadership Workshop!
This 12-week extensive program will focus on self-governance, advocacy, healing, capacity building, the impacts of colonization on women/femmes, cultivating healthy relationships and ways we can reduce gender-based violence within our communities.
Together, we will use Indigenous ways of knowing to find modern solutions to gender-based issues, reduce barriers and honour our innate wisdom.
Meeting bi-weekly, online and open to those living in so-called Canada.
This program is open to all Indigenous femmes (18+) who are community-minded and want to gain a deeper understanding of their own power to create fundamental change around gender inequity and violence.
An honorarium and certificate of completion will be offered to qualifying participants at the end of each cohort.

We are so excited to have you join us for this amazing workshop on Matriarchal Leadership and reducing gender based violence. This twelve week workshop is an extensive look at ways to identify systemic, personal and physical effects caused by colonization, patriarchy and trauma. This workshop will help build your capacity for self advocacy and ways to create safety within your homes and communities. We will talk about reducing gender based violence through an Indigenous lens and explore decolonial ideas to address the larger issue of harm against womxn.

Requirements:
You must identify as a womxn or femme or non binary Indigenous person.
Aged 18+
You are living in (so-called) Canada and are able to commit to attending all five
sessions, taking place bi-weekly at 430 pm PST.
Have access to Facebook in order to join our private discussion group for self
directed learning, community building and resource sharing
Be able to provide an email or address to receive your $150 honorarium.
( to be paid at the completion of workshop - see below )
Disclaimer and Content Warning
This workshop will have themes of addressing violences, colonization, patriarchy, interpersonal relationships, self image, trauma ( including partner violence and sexual assault) institutional trauma ( including foster care systems, kinship, familial abuse) - While this workshop will primarily focus on self empowerment and community building, we recognize that in order to be honest we need to make space for the many realities we face as Indigenous people and as femmes.
We encourage you to consider your emotional, mental and spiritual well being. If this isn’t a good time for you to explore these topics- there may be other
opportunities in the future to access this information/these seminars.
Your well being comes first! Participants are always welcome to step away when content is too hard, not conducive to their well being or they simply need a break.
SNIWWOC also offers free counselling sessions for low income femmes that we can connect you with if needed/qualifying.
This is often heavy work. You matter and your feelings, emotions and needs matter. Self care is part of the revolution, so do what's best for you.
