FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Support Network for Indigenous Women and Women of Colour (SNIWWOC) celebrates International Women’s Day by breaking the gender bias across industries.  Join us!

Victoria, B.C., Canada. March 4th, 2022 : At SNIWWOC, we empower women by addressing the barriers faced by Black, Indigenous women and women of colour when attempting to access healthcare. We operate from a holistic health perspective acknowledging that financial health and employment opportunities play a vital part in a woman’s overall health. We want to see workplaces where women thrive; an elevation of women creatives and the closing of gender pay gaps. We are working towards a society where gender equity is “the norm.”

Creating equity in the workplace for all genders is a necessary step toward a safer, more collaborative space for us all. SNIWWOC is pleased to showcase four guest speakers who will describe their experiences across various industries. Our guests will talk about their journey to success, the gender bias they faced and other intersecting issues they’ve encountered. SNIWWOC Events Manager, Amaris Seenandan says, “this will be a powerful discussion where we can dissect the similarities of gender bias across industries. It is not to be missed!”

Our speakers include Izabella Rampersaud, Assistant Buyer and model who is smashing her goals in the fashion industry; Katie Collar, Head Coach for the Vancouver Whitecaps; Cheryl Sanguinetti, mortgage broker and founder of The Mortgage Gallery based out of Calgary, Alberta. And finally, Briana Williams, an attorney based in Los Angeles, California, who can provide valuable insight to North American women of colour who have aspirations in law.

“Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.” (internationalwomensday.com, 2022)

Join us on March 8th 4:30 PST for an online International Women’s Day celebration!
