About SNIWWOC:

The Support Network for Indigenous Women & Women of Colour (SNIWWOC) is committed to the empowerment of women. We operate from a holistic and integrated service model that addresses the social, cultural and political realities of immigrant and Indigenous communities, using a reproductive justice framework that prioritizes food, art, and education. We are one of a handful of reproductive justice organizations in the country, focusing on the wellbeing of Indigenous women and women of colour.

We believe that when women and girls live a life free from violence, they can fully realize and exercise their sexual and reproductive health and rights. When young people have access to accurate information and services on sexual and reproductive health, they can make informed decisions about their bodies and lives.

About the Position:

The position will be responsible for managing SNIWWOC’s social media, website, podcast, and general online presence focused on improving healthcare outcomes for black, indigenous, and women of colour in Canada.

Location: Victoria, BC or remote

Position Type: Full-time (35hrs/week)

Start Date: Immediately

Compensation: $29/hr or 50,750.00 annually + comprehensive health benefits

Contract: 12 month contract with the option to renew

Job duties:

  • Growing and developing a variety of content for SNIWWOC’s social media channels, marketing programs, and resources and raising awareness of SNIWWOC’s mission and programs by creating and sharing interesting, relevant, and engaging content.

  • Identifying new and innovative ways to enhance and expand SNIWWOC’s social media presence and outreach to various stakeholders.

  • Support the development and execution of digital campaigns around key communications initiatives.

  • Assist with writing a variety of content to support communications and marketing efforts, including newsletters, website copy, outreach materials, and press releases.

  • Support the development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies that raise awareness of SNIWWOCs mission and grow the organization’s audience and engagement.

  • Identify marketing trends and insights

  • Optimize content for social media and manage SNIWWOC’s website and social media channels

  • Work with various content formats such as blogs, videos, audio podcasts, etc.

  • Assist with video and audio editing

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of communications and/or marketing experience in non-profit or advocacy space.

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, marketing/business administration, public health, or a related field. Students currently enrolled in a relevant program will be considered.

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills.

  • Superior time management and organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills, with the ability to work well in a team and build relationships with people from a diversity of backgrounds.

  • An analytical mind and ability to think critically.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Knowledge of email marketing software such as MailChimp or a similar online marketing platform.

  • A working knowledge of programming languages such as Java and ORACLE + some experience in application and software development is an asset

  • Proven knowledge of communications, marketing, and fundraising best practices.
